Why should we study the Holocaust?

           "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." - George Santayana, philosopher and critic.

           This means that if we fail to learn from our experiences we will make the same mistakes over and over again. We study the Holocaust because we don't want things in the past repeated and so we can learn from our mistakes. The quote is explaining that if you forget what has happened in the past, it will surely happen again. What some people don't understand is that there is something equal, if not greater, happening right now called Genocide. It's important for students to study the Holocaust so that they can learn about discrimination and there is no reason to hate others because of what they believe. Each generation needs to learn what has happened and then teach it to the next generation so it won't repeat itself.
